firewire longboards versus...

I logged two straight weeks of solid surf on a 9-6 flexflight last year and I was hooked on the pinched rails, feather-like weight, speed and spring that the board delivered. I’m a big guy (6’-3" 235lbs) and I was able to float sections at will.  I was sooo stoked on it.

That said, I am concerned about durability of the Firewires. It is a delicate unit for sure.   It definitely felt like I could snap the thing with ease so laying out big coin feels a bit risky if the board is short-lived.

In an ideal world, I would prefer to have the guy who shaped my last board create a custom for me that would compete with the performance of the Firewire. He has a few different ideas but I figured it wouldn’t hurt to ask the forum of experts as well and maybe gather some consensus…

Anybody have any experience or ideas to share? Thanks

have your local shaper do it for you. I see so many problems with firewires all the time. One big one is delam.

live forever.

Stick with the FST models
They tend to hold up better
I had a longboard but sold it recently
Nothing spectacular but 75vol at your weight it would flex better
Better off with a sunova longboard if you can find one
