Let me say be carefull with the quad future set up! Make sure of the thickness of the tail, on the rear fins make sure you use the 1/2" boxes verses the 3/4" Or else you might go right through the deck of your board. Second Make sure of your bottom concave when placing you jig, Hence if you have a single concave and you set your jig, your jig will be angle in toward the concave giving you more of an inward can’t. MAKE SURE THAT YOUR JIG IS LEVEL BEFORE YOU CUT! Just my 2 cents-josh
I purposely kept the board pretty thick I think tail thickness which (if carefull) should accomadate the fin boxes alright.
I opted not to go for the Futures install Jig and will try and install them without it. I know it will probably be a lot more work/frustration but i’m going to give it a go being extra carefull. There is a slight concave to the bottom that ends flat towards the tail so fortunately I wont have to worry too much about bottom contours messing with the cant/jig.
Also anyone use US composites epoxy before? A friend used it to glass a kiteboard which worked pretty well, but I havent seen anyone talk about it on here.
I would advise against using 1/2" rear boxes for a quad. Most quad setups use 3/4" bases. I made that mistake and purchased a new set of Futures Vector II Quads and had to sand down the base of the rear fins to fit in the 1/2" boxes. It sucks to spend $60 on a set of fins and sand down the base so they can’t be used on another board.
if you’re careful you can set those boxes pretty easy without the jig. A quad is much more easier since your not cutting the stringer (which sucks without a jig) just double check all your dimenions until your certain on how to do it. Just go through it in your head and you’ll be all set.
