started shaping a board(lost rocket outline) a few months ago i don’t even remember. because i don’t really have time to shape, i only ended up glassing one side. as it turns out, i lapped the rails real bad and now i’m trying to salvage what is left. i stripped the rail part of the laps and went crazy on the spackle. now i have a question, since stripping the laps, the tail ended up very thin compared to the nose. how would this affect performance?
i understand that my board will not be as durable as a well made board but what the hey, i just want a board to ride.
well actually i’m really planning to glass on my fins either use my one-tab-left-fcs that i asked from someone, or i mold and reproduce them?
anyway, my point is, the tail isn’t super thin in normal board terms, more of tail-nose ratio. my nose is definitely thicker than usual, but after stripping the glass off the tail, it’s way too thin compared to the nose. any thoughts?
sorry i just woke up so my paragraph composition sucks.
Well… not knowing anything about the foil, etc. of the board, I can say that typical shortboards are slightly thicker in the tail than in the nose. Retro boards are typically thinner in the tail than in the nose. So it’s been done before. Ride it and see. You might find that if your wide point and thick point are both forward, it might be ok.
