It’s almost finished. I kinda embarrassed to show everyone in the condition its in, but I have no choice. I screwed up on the pin stripe, and I have no time to fix it - I leave for Mexico tomorrow.
I’m pretty stoked the way the board turned out. It’s pretty basic, but I figured I would get fancy on my next one. The board is actually for a friend who is coming with us and doesn’t really surf, and for my wife to use. He/she needed a bigger board and I wanted something easy to make.
Materials:
Clark 7’4"R
RR Epoxy
S-Glass 4&6oz
Future side fins & box center fin.
finished:
7’4"(give or take an inch)x22"x3"
Swallow tail
6oz Bottom 6&4oz top
Big fat round rails first 50% to hard down last 25%
I’d like to hear (after your trip) how the epoxy + PU blank holds up to pressure dents. I’m considering buying a Clark blank for my 2nd rather than making an EPS one & have read somewhere on this forum that epoxy/polyur. may not be the most durable combo.
Hey, I’m 5’10 and 145 lbs, and would love to have that board as my allaround surfboard!
I can add lazy, outofshape, oldfart, and alwaysinjured to the equation too…in addition to surfing places that are hard to get out, wayoutside, and usuallyalone…
Hope you trip is fruitful. When you get back lets talk, since you are in my neck of the woods and all. I am about to glass my first. Again, looks good…especially for the waves around here.
