First Shape - FUN

Hey Guys,

I shaped and painted my first blank (8’0” mini-LB out of an 8’3” E) over the weekend and had a great time doing it. During the shaping, I just kept thinking how unbelievably accurate the tips and directions are that you guys give.

Couple of funny notes:

I expected a lot of dust from your comments but holy cow!!!

Always cut your fingernails really, really short before shaping.

When using a sanding block – does it always wait until the last stroke to catch an edge, flip, and re-dent foam? I lost count of this happening at like 10 times.

I’m convinced that even the most harmless garage objects secretly conspire to rid foam from the earth by denting it to death.

Glassing next weekend – if it goes half as smooth – drinks are on me.

Thanks,

HerbB

Nice job!!

After a few boards, I now find it necessary to remove all non-bolted down equipment (rakes, ladders, golf clubs, hockey sticks…etc) from the sahping qarea in my garage. For some reason they are magnetically attracted to shaped foam. Though for some reason a non-skinned blank seems to repel said objects.

Post a pic when you are done glassing!
