Hey guys, long time reader, first time poster here. Nice to meet you all.
I started laminatiing the bottom and top deck this week and found out that there are a few tiny air bubble formed under the fibreglass. The largest air bubble is only around 2mm x 2mm. There are a few around the future fin boxes too. Those air bubbles are from tiny bumps from the bottom lamination.
My question is:
Should I be worry about delamination later on with those air bubbles?
Should I try to fix them now before Hot Coat? ie. drill a hole/cut the fibre and fill it with resin?
The board has a few bumps from uneven resin, will the final Hot Coat fix them up? Should I apply 2 layer of Hot Coat to smooth out the bumps?
Show us some pics. Since its your first board I’d just sand it and ride it. If you really want to fix the bubbles you can take a small drill bit and drill into the hole just opening it and not going into the foam and then hotcoat. Your hotcoat will show you more bubbles later.
Do as Matt said. Won’t look any worse than it does already. Remember next time; you got lots of time with UV. So make sure it’s all down before you expose it. And; the base around Futures are always a problem. Make sure you cut it properly and press the glass down with your finger. Wet with a little resin if necessary. Do that last and walk it right out in the UV before it pops back up.
