On a 5’5" (65") board, 1/3 of the length is 21 2/3". That is 5" off of the 16" mark. Not much of a difference on a ruler but I wonder if you make two boards with the same dims, and start the hard edge at each mark respectively, would you be able to feel the difference?
I put my elbow on the tail end with the surform or sanding block in the palm of my hand. That’s where I start the rolled under edge. About 17 inches. Mike
you raise an interesting topic. i ride alot of fish around the 5’5"-9" mark, and i always put hard edge ( so hard you could shave on it) right up to the toe of the front fin, now that i measure it, it is almost exactly 16"- who knows
oldskull, the way I learned it was that you want water to break off the aft rail and tail, you don’t need any water wrap on the rails near the fin because the fin is providing the hold.
