fish bottom

i usually like to put a double concave under my feet seems to speed things up for me…whats a good idea on a 5’11’’ fish two fin…pretty flat rocker…what sort of bottom would be good in your opinion?

Wouldn’t that depend on the feel you like, and the speed of the waves, in comparison to the width and rocker of the board?

Some guys like the liveliness and speed of a shallow double concave.

Other’s like the control offered by panel V for fast waves.

Some have lots of power, ride small boards, so might like deep double concaves and maybe a single at the nose.

One thing for sure, some V, whether concaved or not, is good out the back behind your back foot.

what about a 5’9 fish with minimal rocker being surfed on rarely overhead beachbreak?

a slight single to double never hurt anyone

I think there’s something about riding a lot of chop and slop where you ride flat bottoms, isn’t there? I think caves kinda suck into the water if you’re flat-trackin’ over bumpy surf.

Otherwise, with good surf, I think doubles are the shit these days. The more often you’re on bumpy water, the less cave, I think.

Vee without concave is silly, unless you don’t want your rail to work there. You make your fin do all the work. This really applies to rail fins, and any vee under your back foot.
