Hi, I have a Lis fish that I’ve been using for reference for shaping my fishes and the fins which are 5"x7 1/2", are set 5 1/4" from the tail and are set 1 1/4" from the rail. They do have a slight toe in and slight cant also. I set the fins on a fish I shaped like this and it works just fine.
Dear foamdust ,
Thanks for the reply , so it doesn’t matter how far apart between fin to fin ? Read some dicussion on swaylock most of em prefer 12" apart . How far apart is urs ?
With respect , A .
gday andi. i did a lot of research on sways & came up with these numbers for my twin keel fish. i hope it helps.
for reference, here’s the board dims:
length: 5’7"
wide point: 20 & 1/2"
nose: 17"
tail: 18 & 1/2"
thickness: 2 & 3/4"
swallow tip to tip: 11 & 1/2"
buttcrack depth: 5 & 1/2"
& the fin numbers:
keel: 9 & 3/4" base, 5" deep
leading edge of keel: 5 & 3/4" from centre
trailing edge of keel: 6" from centre & 6 & 1/2" from tail
toe: 1/4"
cant: 3 degrees
this setup works well for me. i really love riding this surfboard.
I think I used Foamdust’s numbers three years ago for my first fish. I usually line them with the end of the butt crack. Sometimes a little further forward. 1 1/4 off the rail. Cool T shirt, Oldy. Mike
