howdy, fish heads!
performance-wise, what exactly does the split tail do for the board? how come the twin tail tips are almost always as thick as the board center, instead of tapering into a much-thinner section the way other board shapes’ tails are built? if your twin-tailed board has a center fin setup right before the butt crack, will it still fall under the fish board design category? what makes a fish ride differently from most shortboards? what makes a fish quad fin setup ride differently from a twin fin fish? what works better on a fish, glassed-on or removable fins?
i’m asking these to see whether the design archetype (whether steve lis’s original version or adapted from elsewhere) has performance features that are commonly experienced by a wide range of fish riders, or mainly accepted as valid due to so-called (unquestioned) ‘myths’.
btw my next woven plant fiber - HWS assembly goal will be a shortboard fish i’ll adapt from available templates, your feedback will help me gauge whether it’s worth budgeting for
cheers,
