Fishing from a Wavestorm

Before anybody grabs  a pitchfork and torch I need to restate again that this is a fishing board thread.   I finally found a a cheap enough wavestorm paddleboard to fish off of.   Now I want to add tie downs/ rod holders/ beer holders to my extra large pool to.   Has anybody had any luck cutting, glueing, drilling these big marshmellows?   Thanks for the advice in advance.   If I am better off keeping my gear in a backpack I can continue doing that too.

Ideally I would add four leash cups to the bow and a rod holder a mid ship.

Darren,

I’d be interested in more info on this project.        Size of the board that you are going to use.     Photos or diagrams, perhaps?

Been thinking about you lately Darren, I hope you and the fam are doing well!

Thanks for the replies.    The board is the  super generic and thick 10 6 SUP that Costco carries.  I bought mine second hand so I did not have to deal with the lines and hot dogs at Costco.   The board is at least 6 inches thick.   I am just curious about what is inside and where.   Also what is the best adhesive.

Off topic.   Does Red x Tom still make soft top fins and accessories?  Years ago I remember checking out his shop in the San Clemente board ghetto.

ps. Chris, the fam is great she is also 6 months old now and starting to let us sleep.

Nice!

this is a pic of the 8’ surfboard, but i imagine the SUP is similar enough. drilling is easy, cutting everything but the stringers could be done with a butter knife. the stringers are crappy plywood. the EPS is fairly soft and not super sturdy once exposed. i’d hack it up and go for it. you could probably get away w/ just sealing it w/ “flex seal” or something similar if you wanted to go quick/dirty.

Darren,

It’s the size. A 10 ft board is a tad wobbly when fishing. as per rod holders…you need to install leash plugs, and secure the gear with a milk crate, or ice chest. drill the rod holders into the ice chest or milk crate.  Make sure the leash plugs go all the way through the board with a washer of some sort…maybe a section of 1/2 pvc etc.   Then everything in the milk crate or ice chest is locked down with bungees and zip ties.

A 10 ft softiee is going over like the Bizmark. better secure it down…or lose it all.

Add some outriggers to it.

Gorilla Glue works on Wavestorm materials

Hello Darren,

I was just wondering if you’ve had any luck with your Wavestorm SUP setup for fishing?

I’m trying to rig up my sup wavestorm with a few extra tie downs, were you able to source some longer leash plugs that would go through the whole board and screw together?

Thanks for any help!

Why would you need to gule a gorilla?

I would drill and then use hot melt glue to secure a plug.

Holes drilled by pushing a big pencil through the board

You mean you’ve never seen their reaction if you run a line of this stuff around the rim of the toilet seat just before they go to use it?

Hilarious!

But very, very dangerous.

That’s why Gorilla Glue got developed.

Gorillas are strong animals, so a glue was needed that sets super-fast and was even stronger than they are, because too many gorilla-handlers were getting peeled like banana’s.

Cheers all.
