can i fix this when i do the deck? i put a little too much catalyst or just didnt work quick enough and it gelled on me. the whole bottom is fine and makes that zipper sound. i just didnt saturate the rails enough.file://localhost/Users/joesmoe/Pictures/iPhoto%20Library/Previews/2013/04/02/20130402-185731/p0xhJTKORqO5cuy%25lnePUQ/IMG_0323.jpg
I try to make another small batch of resin right away and get the dry spots saturated. I use a small brush to apply the resin.
I haven’t had good results once the resin is hard. But I’m no expert. I’m interested in knowing how others would fix it.
ok so i kind of did that. the resin was pretty much dry but not 100%. so i flipped it over on some wx paper and made a little batch. i applied to all of the areas that wherent fully saturated. it doesnt look so bad so i hope it will somewhat sand out and not be visible after i do the 2 layer deck lam. thanks.
just use a brush and the tip of a glove to get it all saturaded and pushed bown, laminated.
You can baste the laps at the same time. once its all cured… sand the laps and the drips flat. lam the deck.
ed could be an idea to do a pigmented lam on the top to hide the dry spots
Too late lol… Tops done. I def learned a lot on my first glass job. Should’ve sanded more and got every tiny bump out of the top. For the most part the bottom is almost perfect and that’s really the part that matters the most to me. Only thing left is to hot coat and install fin plugs. It looks like a hack job but its for me and I can deal with it. Ill post some pics probably Thursday. Thanks for the help guys
haha nice. If you got some spare resin- sand your first hot coat to 120 get the bumps out, then re hot coat
