Fixing a gouge in the foam before glassing

This was just one of those “want to bang your head against the wall moments.” I finished shaping a board and had it leaning against the wall and when my puppy saw me she got really excited and was running around and knocked it over. It put some pretty nice dents in the rail in 2 places.

Does anyone have any suggestions on how to fix this?

Definitely putting the board on the glassing racks before playing with the dog next time.

If they depressed the foam and do didn’t remove any hit it with a heat gun. Should bounce back. Screen and your good to go.

Maybe some lightweight spackle. The kinds that sands super easy. I’m not sure how it reacts with resin though so maybe test it first.

If its severe, cut out a triangle and replace it with an exact fitting piece, use PU glue or epoxy and finally sand it into shape…

Heat gun and if need be ACE liteweight spackle. I’m liking the method Pete C. showed me. A wet rag rung out and laid over the dent, then hit it with the heat gun. Less chance of burning or turning foam brown.
