I duckdived my board and my fins hit a rock a couple days ago. It cracked some of the glass around the box and the fin was knocked inward a little bit. I made a somewhat approximated measurement of the cant using trig and came up with 1.8°-2.0° difference. When comparing the two angles of the fins the difference at the tips is 3/16". To me it seems very minor but I have no idea. It’s on a 5’11" pyzalien if it matters. Should I mess with the boxes at all or just fix up the cracked parts? Here’s some pics of the box https://imgur.com/gallery/Jwhcs
Get some help if you need to, but put a fin in the box and lever it back in position before and during the repair. If it’s worth doing, it’s worth doing right.
Keith’s right of course, the reason is that if you don’t make the effort and it rides wonky, you’ll hate yourself for not taking the time to do it right the first time when you had the chance.
2 percent cant is definitely noticeable on a rail fin…there are fin systems like pro box with interchangeable cants, and they are in 2 degree increments (4, 6, 8).
