Has anyone tried using a flat cord for Skil planers to mitigate tangling of the cord? Since flat cord only bends in one direction, it might be less subject to tangling. Or is this wishful thanking?
Thanks
Tim
Should have said “cord bends in a single plane”.
Have you tried a higher quality round cord? There’s definitely different levels of quality and the one we carry is the most flexible and “non-kink” cord we’ve found. It’s not something you can get at Home Depot, etc. It comes as a full spool from speciality electrical suppliers.
Using a flat cord could be worth a shot. You would just need to make sure it fits in the strain relief and make sure it’s a 3-wire cord with the green grounding wire. One downside to the flat cords is that they have less insulation than rounded cords, which means the outer jacket can tear easier exposing a nicked wire.
I purchased one of your cords. Have not installed yet. Looks like 14 GA. The rubber sheath is clearly more flexible than the standard extension cords I have been using. I have multiple Skils so I can compare different cords.
Can a 5.5 AMP Skil run on a 18/3 power cord?
One thing about Sways; There’s always something new (or at least never been done before). I think of all the shapers who have used Skil 100 planers through the years and wonder; How?
Oh. thanks for your order. Hard to tell who’s who without names.
I don’t think 18 gauge can handle the current draw of the tool but maybe someone else here has tried.
