The surface of the pad(s) is a tear/abrasive resistant surface(like most sanding pads eg.= Power Pads tm.).
I always recommend that you remove the sand paper while it’s still warm…NOT cold !
And yes , you still need to use glue w/ the exception of the velcro system…This Velcro system incorps a Velcro hook surface on the pad and a fuzzy backing on the sanding disks…a bit more costly, but eliminates the “gluesblues” hassles.
Got that about right Jerry ?
I’m amazed he hasn’t chimed in here on this thread…must be busy…Jerry was never one to sit around for very long…He liked staying busy.
I’ve got a birthday coming up and have been dropping hints to the family about what I’d like to get. I was thinking about three flex pads. Which would you recommend for sanding the lam and fins? Hard? Med? Soft? Super soft blue thing? I’ve been using a hard disk and its been… challenging. Thanks. Eric
And thank you Herb! It’ll be 38 this year. On the 11th actually. The really cool thing is I’ve gotten in touch with “Fatty” from Fatty Fiberglass in Fort Bragg and she has very graciously offered to give me some tips on glassing. I’ll be down her way (abalone diving) this weekend. Hope it works out. She has been very generous and I’m super stoked. So ya, it’ll be a very good time for a sanding pad upgrade. Gonna be a very good birthday! Later. Eric
