I think Surfer forum , plus here , have shown photos of them from time to time …

…what shape were you thinking of doing / getting , Yerba ??

In Australia there are Outer Island( Mitchell Rae) and bushrat as well as retro ( Mark Rabbige ).

I own an Outer island 7’2 there are pictures posted on swaylocks somewhere. I can personally say ther are awsome, It is like being shrunk and put on the back of a bumblebee. so loose and fast

…how about “Run” here , too, eh ?? …

here’s his take …he’s done a few spoony / “alternative” craft …

thought you might like to read this , his first take on things …

try these.

hi John !!

thanks for the shots !

I was wondering if you could tell me how Mitchell did THIS tail , please ?

is it carbon fibre ?

if so , how many layers ?

and what thickness foam underneath ?

did he put clear cloth over the carbon ?

can you feel the flex ?

if so , when …coming out of turns / halfway through turns ?

…how does it "behave " say in a straight line trim [eg: in the tube ] ?

thanks mate …any info gladly welcomed !

ben

the tail is glassed with clear over carbon, i think, i dont know how thick. A closed cell foam is glued on top for asthetic reasons. to see how they go watch litmus. I really ficks around in a turn and accellerates in a straight line. Give Mitch a ring ,he will give you all the details.

Thinking along these lines Chip?

I dunno…that just looks weird to me. Prolly something more along the lines of the formula windsurfing boards would work better

The pimping green quad gets baptized on Friday. Pray for some serious Northwest swell!

Cheers,

In San Diego, you have one of the best…Steve Pendarvis. He has been doing flex boards for 18 + years. He works out at Diamond Glassing. He can retro-fit boads as well.

in venutra/santa barbara area-tony masiel-long time stubby advocate and flex tail maestro…

the fish i will shape this coming winter will be stringerless in the tail, not only for flaxy but easy of shaping, that string in the buttcrack throws me off Arg. can anyone give me tips on weighting the tail for glassing, i want the tail tlo naturally be flat rockered, but then bend in turns.
