Flexspoon edgeboard?

Currently shaping a Flexspoon 5’2”x21”.

Im planning on doing a 6oz glass 5layers on both sides and 3 of those 5 will be shorter so the center point will be around 4 layers thick at least. Not sure if it’s enough or too much. I searched on here a bit but at least a lot of the images from the forum weren’t available to see. I also have the opportunity of buying some volan 7,2 oz not sure if that would be better. I’ve also never worked with volan. I from the photo I updated the shape and made the edges a little more parallel. We will see how it’s comes out the next couple of days/weeks.

That seems like a lot of glass

Sounds more like a Greenough Velo than an Edge.

This old thread may help starting at this post.
(He is laying down FG in a “mold” for an “Edge Spoon.”)

I had read on a website about greenough that he had done his spoon with a 16 layers of fiberglass, I am planning on making it with polyester

Yeah your right, this will probably be better as a greenough velo, I’ll work towards that,

Maybe make an 18” X 18” FG test panel adding multiple layers of FG sequentially.

Test flex periodically after adding every few layers of FG. Only simple representative way I can see to determine how many layers of glass you will need for a desired amount of flex.
