Can any of you recommend some pivot-style fins that are flexible? I tried out the Captain Fin Peanut Gallery fin a few days ago and loved the load-release it had coming out of turns combined with the hold of a larger volume fin. After some searching, couldn’t find anything else like it. Are there any other pivot fins out there that are flexy?
I recommend the Larry Allison Volan Pivot Flex. http://probox-larry.blogspot.com/2009/04/volan-pivot-flex-fin-series-by-larry.html
If this link doesn’t show it, scroll down a thru different blog entries until you find it. He lists sizes/dimensions.
Because these have more base length that most flex fins, they have a lot of hold/drive. I like it the best of a half-dozen different flex fins I have tried. I use a 10" on a 9’6".
One potential issue I ran into was that due to the base length, I was already at the front of the box and still wanted a little more forward position of the fin. I had to modify the leading edge of the fin (and re-position the pin) to get the placement I wanted.
