I looked around sways a bit and did not see too many people talking about materials in bulk or large quantitys. I found a great site for fiberglass and resin and really anything else you could need BESIDES foam blanks. I recently (like 3 months ago) took a trip too Vec Surfboards in orleans on the cape, he said he had over 1000 blanks and i was just in shock. I dis not know you could buy that many so many and not shape them!
I have made a few boards and i am tottally hooked. However being 16 cash is a non existent entity in my world. So is there any place where i can get blanks in bulk and or large quantitys at a cheaper price? Any blanks that are cheaper in general?
Kinda off topic but i was thinking about making a UV box, know where to get bulbs?
hmmm maybe horse before the carriage? are you going into production after a couple of boards? how are you going to buy in bulk when you say you have zero money?
Hey Gremmie, SLOW DOWN. Master the skills first. Or you will be throwing your money away.
Do one at a time. Do everything from start to finish: Draw your own templates. Don't rely on close tolerance blanks. Do your own foils. Laminate. Become a good to great sander. Do your own fins. When you can do a board that looks like it should be in a shop for sale repeatedly, Then, GO FOR IT!
Hippo is on the south shore of mass, kevin is in Providence RI.
looking atleast 2 hr ride round trip with a bigger car to get blanks. I would
offer you bulk price but you dont save much unless you are getting them
shipped right to you location. They charge you more if shipped to your
house unlike a business.
unless kevin drops them off, :) because your only 16 and probally dont have your license.
Where are you located?? I love their distributor over in Melb beach. I havent bought anything from them but they are the sweetest people ever. I think it is Atlantic Surf supply. The people always are willing to answer questions and I just got a real good vibe!
we have shipped boards blanks to several spots on the east coast and we do a mix of manufacturers Us Blanks, Marko Millennium Surfblanks and Arctic. Extremely reasonable pricing and shipping as well. But honestly its not cost effective until you do at least 5 blanks. We shipped 15 blanks last time for 90.00 I think it was to North Carolina.
Thanks for the tip kevincc, and i appreatiate for you too extend that offer too me, but i have no cash to spend. And as for chino, i have contacted you abot blanks before and never told me where i could get them, only you would charge 150$ for the exact same blank i got from dan for about 90$. No disrespect, but common man.
I think i may be ordering some resin and cloth to start making fins. I made a few and they were a hit with some of my buddies.
As for winter time, its getting too cold to do tesin work in my unheated shed. Resin was so thick i thought it gelled overnight when i removed the lid. So surfboards may go on the back burner and longbard skateboard or ski making comes into view.
yeah thats her!! Sweetest ever! even offered to have stuff delivered to her so it was all there ready for me to pickup from the place down the road that sells the glass supplies and such…
I would take the $90 blanks too but I got to make a living. Got to pay the heating bill for my glassing room this winter. can I ask what blank it was? and how much it is on those internet foam sites?
I have always worked a full time job while making boards. Now its full time making boards(making moves). As a hobby it was fun, now its getting stressful.

PS My god son won his first contest in SDCA. So proud… First grade, so great!
