so they ran the Nelscott Reef segment of the big wave tour here in Lincoln City OR today. conditions varied from glassy to strong side shore wind, swell lulled and lurched, contestants calling 30’ on the sets - and yes that would be 30’ HI, the gold standard for all big wave measurements…
As this contestant is about as small and casual as you could imagine for being a BFD for those who care, easy to cruise around and check out the guns. Serious guns, some over 11’.
And what a collection it was. quivers of the best big wave surfers in the world, laying around, silently screaming ‘fondle me, damn it, fondle me’…at least I’m sure I heard that…
