hi guys !
here’s the latest hemp four fin setup/s …
if i make some more , would any of you guys like to try any of THESE in your multi plugged boards ?
…it would be good to hear how they go in N.Z., Hawaii, and cali surf …
cheers !
ben
[p.s. -
YES , they HAVE been foiled since these photos were taken !]
I am so ready to try some hemp fins, and if I could get away with it I’d try to get a quad plugged board for them- maybe one of those pintailed Jeff McCallum ‘Quaggs’…
the missus would kill me. Still, I’ll try the fins with thanks.
i dig those front ones ben
i still havent foiled the ones you sent me yet
hopefully this week
have you got a puter yet???
For sure. I’d like to try some out. I might be tempted to smoke them though.
don’t smoke , eat , snort , or otherwise imbibe [them] , but you are more than welcome to SURF them , guys !
hopefully my brother will take some to indo for the next 6 weeks ?
cheers
ben
…stay tuned …
nup , ‘w.a.l.’ , no pooooter … just internet cafe visits
more importantly ben
when are you going to go to indo
get some decent waves for a change eh mate
heeheehee
…I have ‘no clue’ [to quote you] . I guess I might have to move to your homebreak , ‘panties’ , instead , eh ?!
meanwhile …
hi ben
i tabbed the fins today
i just wanted to post a few pics
no offense intended but i noticed your tabs are pretty wonky
i imagine because you are cutting them out with an angle grinder or a jisaw
there is a better way!
if you are to use a jewellers type coping saw and good blades
you can cut tabs accurate to the mm
a good blade will cut out some tabs in about 5 minutes
then after they are cut you can tidy them up with a 1 or 2 cut flat engineers file
the file will cut through the fin material quite easily if it sharp
just do it on the edge of your bench or table
i marked the tabs using a fin as a template
i scribed the outlines with a sharp metal pointer
i guess if you cut outside the lines with a jigsaw
then clean up with file, you could get them pretty neat
surf this morning shoulder high
there was no one out btw
and sunday was fun to a bit bigger and longer rides
cheers paul !
…those look fun waves !
yep , i suck at tab cutting sometimes !
i use a carborundum blade on a jigsaw .
what i noticed recently is i am not standing straight above the tabs when cutting , so was tending to cut crooked tabs .
also , like you , i cut a mm outside the outline and file them down . i notice my hands have been a bit shaky lately …might be to do with the nerves in my spine playing up lately .
anyway , i will clean up my tabs on the ones i send you …was it the ‘conventional’ fcs ‘G6’ template you wanted , for the front sides on your fish’s quad setup ?
here’s yesterday here , by the way …pascal [‘popeye’] had this , for the most part, to himself…
and , from the day before …
maybe you file needs to be a sharper or courser cut
maybe a 0 or 1 cut would be better
do you have a bench vise
that would be very handy for tiding up bases and tabs
maybe a twin fin size fin would be good??
those waves look pretty nice to mate
cheers paul !
how are the ‘canards’ coming along ?
my current panel is drawn out for a set of hemp cutaway keels [a replica of the pair Simon is taking to indo ]
cheers
ben
soon as nod brings the glass , i’m good to go again
ive partially foiled one of them
…i sent you a pm too by the way mate , asking about the hemp fins to send you …
cheers
