Cool story! Ex wife made me get rid off my Carl Hayward “Rocket Fish” back in 1997. I bought it custom back in 1979! I’m on ebay last week and there is my old board 10 years later! So I bid on and won! $290 bucks later. I think that is what I paid 30 years ago!
That is sooooooo great! and it looks to be in pretty good shape for the age. throw a nesw way job on it and get it into the water see what your feet remember to do. I often wonder where some of my old boards have gotten to over the years…
probably the dump with my old boards.
very cool, man…you must be STOKED!!!
Dude,that’s a sweet looking machine.
I remember some of those around here back in the day along with MR and LB style twinnies.
I missed that whole wave of twin fins - persevered on single fin spears until finally caving in and gettin on a thruster.
The twin/fish is something I’m only getting out of my system now,so I’ll be first to ask…
how 'bout some dims and some more comprehensive photos ?
Pretty please ?..
.
Thanks,
Here you go!
6’-4" x 20-1/2" x 3"
awesome story. stoked! how i wish a couple of my old boards would return home. good for you mate.
That’s the stuff mate, good on ya.
If I may press the point a bit, how bout the nose/tail dims, rocker, and all important hull shape ?
Sorry to revive the Inquisition.
I’ve seen the rocket fish mentioned/discussed,but to my knowledge no-ones ever presented a live specimen before.
If I didn’t ask,Chippy would heh heh.
Cheers
Nice… that board looks familiar. Did you surf HB with it? Carl made great fish.
Yes mostly H.B. North side and cliffs.
