Found: Old School Fish

In Western Canada…

On The Coast…

Any Clues On It’s History…???..

very well could be one of rex Huffmans old stevie Lis kneeboards…Rex charged Pipe in that era. Good luck!

Did Lis make un-labeled boards…???..

Still signs them very nicely.

…Liquid the Lis man! Sweeet…

That board is really short (almost certainly a kneeboard) with nose and tail dimensions at 19". Overall width at 22 3/4". Swallow tips at 15" with butt crack 7 1/2" deep.

No name or initials apparent through the semi-opaque glass job. Shape and glassing job defintely appear to be a notch above backyard hack with clean cutlaps and pinstripe.

Owner reportedly is a photographer.

Try posting the Pics up on Coastalbc.com there are a few old timers on there that may be able to give some insight on the board. It’s a small community I’d bet someone’s seen it in the line up.

a guess-dale k. a photog from so cal into greenough type spoons, water housings and i think he might have rolled on lis fishes at one point…

kobetich eh ?

I believe he was in Perth a while back …and I missed him ?!!

i’ve seen Rex’ old yellow kneeboard he rode in the pipemasters…no stevie yin and yang…no signature. still a stevie. Call bird at southCoast surf Shop…he could tell you for sure if thats one of rex old boards.

southCoast # 858 483-7660

early fish my guess would be 1970-1972.Rex rode a 5ft6 at that pipe contest in 12-15ft hawaiian scale pipe and it had fins with extra 2 inch on trailing edge for drive and single concave . I heard he caught one wave from second reef pulled in and rode it in the tube the whole way…

Saw on coastalBC that it looks like this mystery’s been solved. Nice find Paul, congrats.

Yeah, nice find there “Three Pull.” Of course, that’s a whole 'nother story…

Jeff from SF board made by Buzz. I remember that board now. He use to ride big Ocean Beach on it .
