Has some de-laming towards the back right quarter of the top that I planned on drilling and injecting with resin to bring this board back to life. Things been beat to death but the shape was so beautiful I had to snag it. 9’ x 23 x 3 and spiral vee in the tail. I had been wanting a board shaped by ACE for a while and the right board and price came along, for a broke student, so there you go. It was recommended that I should sand the whole board down to the cloth and hot coat the board again. Any thoughts?
When I’m restoring an old beater, I sand everything, fill all the divots on the bottom and rails, glass any patches that need glassing, then re-coat it. Sometimes I’ll add an extra deck patch of glass if its called for. I use resin research epoxy on all my restore projects, most of which are old poly resin boards, never had any issues or problems.
Yeah you got one…I think you might be a little off on your dimensions. Probably closer to 23" wide and I am pretty sure closer 3" thick. Unless it was custom for someone, it would say on the bottom. The bird, macaw, was the first family pet my wife and I ever had. She was a family member for almost 40 years. Sadly she died about two weeks ago…That makes that board even more special…
Ya cant wait to get it in the water. Those were the numbers the guy gave me. All it said on the stringer was ACE 9 no dimensions. I’ll measure it tonight when Im studying the lines on the board. Like they say copying is the biggest form of flattery. He said it was shaped in 2007 and came out of a shop in OB so this suckers been romping for close to 10 yrs. Time for a facelift, hopefully I can do it justice.
