FRANCE- SPAIN-SURF

         Good morning ,

My son will be in FRANCE and SPAIN for two weeks . He will be traveling by train if that matters . He is 22 , single and free and good looking , just like his dad ... ha ha ha .

Any suggestions for fun beach or coastal communities that may or may not have surf ?

Thank you in advance for your input .

                                            ALOHA JAMES

James,

This year I stayed for a week in the area around Lacanau. This area doesn’t have a coastal road - rather there are roads that run from a main town or an inland road parallel to the coast ( typically the roads were around 10-15 kms to the beach, followed by a walk). No trains in this area. Depends what sort of waves your son wants and how hard he wants to travel. I didn’t like Lacanau, but if your son wants fun, its a party, tourist town with accessible waves.

I went to NW Spain - you could bus it to some spots but a car would make it much, much easier. If he only has two weeks he doesn’t want to spend it all travelling.

Being on a train limits what you can see coastal wise. (Biarritz he can train to and worth stopping)

I spent 5 years in France and experience some amasing surf. There is surf everywhere!

Don’t tell anyone?

Travel is the best cure for ignorance!

Depending upon the date he’s coming, I might be able to accomodate him for a few nights here in Guéthary. Send me a PM if you’re interested.
