Friendly Acetone replacement

Anybody tried this stuff yet? Looks wonderful but not available in UK as far as I can tell. I'd love to get acetone out of the workplace, my workshop and away from the students.

Years ago I had a bottle of a pink liquid soap that was made for resin.  The stuff worked great.  Never saw it in the store again....but it was great.  I wonder if this is the stuff.  From the sounds of the website it is the same or very similar.

Howzit Rikds, Back in the early 80's I got together with an Acetone Replacment company in Los Alamitos area. was invited to tour the factrory and I will say they were very good at what they were doing and I was so glad to meet with them and see their operation. The product was very good and the operation was high quality . I came close to becoming not only a user but a distrbutor.. What stoped me was when I used it to cleaned My brushes. I use all of brush sizes of the BoardHeads excepy my 4 " is an Aussie  brand and it is the only one that  sheds about 5 hairs total. To me Brush cleaning is the bar when it comes to clean Acetone. The non-oil based  just didn't clean as well as the oil based that we have used forever. That was a long time ago and hopefully they have over come that problem. by now. One thing I like about working with epoxy is being to use The orange hand cleaner our hands or any place on you body. I have even used it to clean a 2" brush and sure I could't just toss it in the a bucket of liquid cleaner but I worked the orange stuff into the brush for quite a while to make sure it was soaked and when done the brush was fine like it should be, Supply and demand is the driving force behind progress in the technology and and with the economy what it is I bet it is low on the to do list. There are green companies that are doing it and that is the Force side who will end up with the answer.Aloha,Kokua

Hi Kokua,

I've got the orange and other citrus flavours. I find cheap vinegar brilliant for cleaning uncured epoxy. It's interesting, I have contacted 4 UK chemical companies in the last few days and they all show polite interest but little else. We / I just don't use enough of the stuff to get industry interested. The boatbuilding businesses in USA are much better informed and are keen for a change from the old ways.

For the boatbuilding school it is mostly the rollers that I'm keen to clean as they cost more than brushes and should be really easy to look after.

Howzit Rikds, OK now you are talking about epoxy as far as using the orange stuff and vinegar but I am talking about acetone for cleaning polyester and there is a big difference. Acetone is a no no when it comes to epoxy. Aloha,Kokua
