I have been using front pads for many years and rfecently tried Gecko X-Grip. I know most people don’t
care about front pads but I just don’t like the wax mess gets on
shorts, wetsuits, car interior and board bags ect.
Any ways I’ve tried all kinds from the new Versa Surf to the old skool x trak.
I recently bought and tried Gecko X-grip on my new Lost Stealth and really like it.
It’s
very thin like a 1 mm. and you don’t even notice it’s there plenty of
grip and I was pushing the board very hard. It’s very white and blends
with the board nicely and I used a Dakine tail pad. They recommend to rough it up with sand paper for more grip but I did not find it needed it, plenty of traction for me.
Nice this is that when paddling I do not slip around like Versa Surf.
I’m sold on it, gonna get more for my other boards.
I hear they have a new version out I’m gonna try soon.
**It’s very white and blends

Sorry to say this, but to me (the board in the photo), the full grip it makes the board look cheap.
I missed the part where looks of your board mattered. Who cares how cheap it looks, this isn’t a beauty contest. I just gave the traction a try and I’m sold. Plan to get it for all my boards eventually. Give it a try and you will never use wax again.
I use Gecko grip exclusively on my two shortboards and longboard.I think it is just perfect.Right amount of grip, non abrasive, lightweight and thin etc…
No more wax for me,ever.
BTW: you can adjust your front foot position,it is a totally flat surface unlike a tipycal tailpad and the foam is very thin/firm so your foot does not sink in at all.
The comment about looks is weird, dirty wax jobs won’t win any beauty contests either.Besides,do you really care that much?.
Surfing is very traditional,if more people tried this thingy it would spread like wildfire.I think it will catch on eventually,i cannot find a downside to it…
I have the gecko grip on a couple of my boards, I especially like it in winter…seems to give much better traction in cold water than wax does. Wish they had more colors for the front grip.
Yes you can trunk it. I live in Florida so I rarely surf in anything else and it is yet to bother me. I do love how just because people actually like something that is different from what people typically use they assume its spam and written by the company. Ever think that maybe it actually works? Boards have evolved so much in the past few decades, why can’t the grip too?
You would think spammers would be smart enough to build their post count up so say 10 posts before they start shamelessly shilling products. Does anyone in this thread claiming the greatness of this new variety of spam even have 100 posts…let alone the ones with 2 and 5.
Maybe spam, but not from me. I do have the product on a couple of boards and I think it does the job of providing traction without wax very well. I share the opinion that it looks...mechanical...or something..wish they sold sheets of it in different colors so I could apply it more the way I would see fit.
It is a quality product, spam or no spam...that's why I chimed in. If it was shit I would say so.
