Is it just me? Seems the bigger the waves get here in So. Cal. this time of year, the less fun I have. Just got out of the water at Malibu, fairly consistent, head high and my experience is that I just survived a dangerous session. Lots of people, dropping in on each other, running over each other, those w/ leashes, taking off on any wave because there is no price to pay for any lack of judgement or skill. Pray for surf!! (3 feet or under) Proneman

yeah, small surf is funfunfun, but i like big surf to test me every now and then. maybe you should be a long boarder? huw
i might be making a trip out to cali. this fall. where is a good area to surf some nice long lefts? and where it isn’t too crowded. how is baha?
i surfed north of malibu yesterday and the crowds at malibu and sunset on the drive home were the heaviest i can remember seeing in a while. wonder how many dings were put in brand new boards yesterday…
In California? I don’t think you can find “Nice long left” and “Not crowded” in the same place. I don’t mean to pop your bubble, best of luck to you, really. Its just a reality check people have to deal with out here.

Even at the most popular spots (WindanSea, Rincon) you can snag a few waves if you arrive in the dark… (full moons help a lot!) You may not be ALONE but it won’t be packed.
basically i am looking for a good place to travel, nice clean long lefts, easy on the wallet, and friendly natives. this sounds like nothing that exists these days. anyone with some good travels behind them, please shoot some ideas… … … …
mexico, costa rica, nicaragua. Do your research, check the ads in the mags-call a surfing travel agent.when you go don’t be too cheap-bring some money, spend some money, be nice,
