Fun Gun Numbers

Could anyone help me with some Desert Island/Fungun numbers-matrix. I ordered a 9’2r blank sb with natural rocker…should I have adjusted the rocker? Making it for a friend who is 6’ and 200#'s. Thanks

9’0 x 15.5"N x 21.5" x 14.5"T x 5.5" rounded squaretail. Those boards work well.

oops sorry, pinch in the tail end from 5.5" to 4.5" if the guy is a powerful surfer(rips!).

How about fin placement on that? Thanks

Also, what would the bottom contours on a 9’ “shortboard” be? Same as a longboard or same as a shortboard but longer?

fin set up on a Rusty Desert Island (not C-5 model)that I have is - center box up 5.25", side fins up 15". I think the nose width is more narrow than described above.

BOTTOMS ARE FLAT TO VEE PANEL LAST THIRD. CHECKED OUT RUSTYS PERSONAL BOARD WHEN THEY FIRST CAME OUT, BUT HE’S A BIG GUY, SO I’M SURE PINCHING IN THE NOSE EVEN MORE(UP TO 1") FOR A 200LB GUY THAT CAN GET VERTICAL WOULD WORK, BUT HE’LL WORK HARDER FOR HIS WAVES, WHATEVER…

Any one have more up to date dimensions for the Desert Island?  I have a 9’ 1’’ EPS blank and I was planning on a width closer to 23" than 21.5".  Dimensions off of a 9’ 0’’  Frye / Josh Hall / Larry Mabile fish Simmons would be appreciated as well.

Thanks and best regards

Marty

Desert Island #s...

9'5" X 22 3/4" (+3") X 13" N X 14" T  X 3" Th

Rounded square tail = 4 1/2" where corners would be.

NR = 6.25"

TR = 3.65"

2+1 fin layout at 5 1/4" center box and trailing edge of sidebites at 15 1/4" with some Al Merrick fins in place... that might change a little if fins with tabs in different place are used.

The tail rocker seems to fit steeper waves well - better than another fun gun I have that was shaped by Mike Eaton although aside from a couple of my own shapes, the Eaton is one of my all time favorites.  The Eaton has a wider nose and a steep panel vee in the tail.  I think the overall width is 23" and the tail is a tad wider as well.

The Rusty has enough tail rocker and thinness in the tail to create a concave top line along the stringer.  This seems to allow more flex in the board as compared to the Eaton which has more of a dome deck.

For an overall daily rider, I wouldn't be afraid to add an inch or so to all dimensions (including thickness) on the Rusty.  That might put in more in the category of a "Secret Weapon" like Infinity makes.  The Secret Weapon might even be worth a look?
