fusion install after glass help

Hey have not glassed board yet, curious to know who does installs after glass and how they go about it?

cheers

Protecting the bottom from most of foam/fiberglass dust will spare you a lot of cleaning. Route the holes as you would normally do. Clean out all dust (airgun). Install as usual. Cover the boxes with an oval-shaped piece of cloth, laminate. Then hot-coat the board and sand.

Balsa is right. installing before you lam is easier but if you insist on doing it after glass then put the patches of cloth over. Fusions have to have cloth over them.

after glass with patches for poyester. ok underglass for epoxy but still easier to do patches

as balsa said after laminate, chasing bubbles is crazy when you got 10 minutes to do a laminate

these boxes are terrible to laminate .

listen to balsa about covering so the dust doesnt get in the lam

good advice, cheers for the info guys.

hobbiest warning.

Color in the lam? or some other reason why you are not going to do a foam install?

IMO, It’s a lot easier to add your patches under your your bottom lam.

To avoid them tiny bubbles… just before you laminate… with the bottom lam rolled back, squeeze a point into a 5oz dixie cup with an once or so of resin in it and do a light pour over the boxes, wait a bit for resin to fill the small voids then lay the patches, maybe gently press the glass into the tight spots let them soak up the resin a bit, then roll the lam back over. Helps to have small pre-cut slits in the middle of the patches for excess air to escape.

Bud, thats a great tip. I'm always wasting time fiddling with bubbles and stuff around those suckers, i'll have to try that.

a  guy who never glassed a board

ive done quite a few of fusion and a begginer does not want to try and laminate around those flanges

its plenty likely he will f$ck something up, why add a new varaiable to fux up

No i have glassed quite a few boards, sorry my initial post may have come out wrong.

i just have not done fusions yet. always done futures, and they can be real ass lickers when it comes to bubs. i just was curious as to if/how fusions could be done after lam.

cheers for the tip bud, will morph the info i have so far and see what works best for me when i get round to glassing the lil beast.

cheers boys

These things are installed & glassed over pretty straightforward, IMO. Not to worry much about the lam over, you’ll be grinding the tops of the tabs down anyway. just make sure you have good coverage of glass over the perimeter. The only real tricky part is getting a nice clean stringer rout, without blowing out the stringer. FCS has a good install video for Fusion, can’t remember where I saw it online but I may have saved it on my PC

there ya go.
