Future fin installation router question

I received the future fin installation kit as a gift, but it didn’t come with a router.  I have read many posts here and only found that the kits from a couple years ago came with the Ryobi tr45 router.  Will any trim router fit the future install kit or do I have to buy a tr45 on eBay?  I saw harbor freight had an inexpensive one, but I didn’t want to buy a wrong one.  Thanks as always guys.

Thanks guys.  I will bring in my kit to Harbor and Home Depot tomorrow a get a new one.  Then just cross my fingers and jump in the deep end.

they now use the makita laminate router in their kits. as long as the square back rounded front base fits on the router it will work.

To use the kit as designed the router base has to fit into the collar that slides along the jig plate.  I would guess that as long as the router had the same baseplate to fit into the collar and the router bit was same, it should work.  .02 from a backyarder

I have several fin routers. I still use the original Ryobi that it came with.I set my up with a Rigid 1/4" router. It has variable speed control and a light so you can see well. I just modified the base to fit inside the Future doughnut. 10 minutes and you’ve got the top of the line router set up. Good luck, Barry Snyder

The Harbor freight trim router is crap. if you have the cash get the Ridgid and cut the base. Or hit a few pawn shops for the Ryobi.
