future rear fins: 1/2" set in 3/4" box?

Has anyone ever tried to shim 1/2" rear future fins in a 3/4" box depth?

i discovered that my rear boxes are 3/4" instead of the standard 1/2" and now my standard fin set sits too deep.

are there wedges available to prop the shallower fins up or has anyone just stuck something down there to push them up the extra 1/4"?  any thoughts welcome.

mahalo!

Do you mean you put the side box in the rear or was it a shop bought board?

It looks as if the only difference in the side fins from the back fins is the length of the base. (apart from the cant of course).

I would shim the bottom of the box. the grub screw should hold everything nice and tight.

If it was a shop board and you can do without it for a few days take it back and ask them to install the correct box.The rear box has an X as opposed to the F at the back.

Good luck.

EDIT:

Just re reading your post and it has dawned on me you are talking about a quad set-up right?

The builder probably intended the board to be ridden with cant side fins as the rear fins.

Shim away my friend and feel the smooth flow of double foiled rear quad fins.

Yup, Future makes shims.

thanks guys.

the person who glassed my board swore by using all 3/4" fin boxes instead of using the customary 1/2" rears, which is fine and all, but it just means that you can't interchange fin sets if you already have normal sets or plan to buy any off the shelf.  kind of screwed me in that way.  i'm fine with 1/2" rears, but i just didn't realize this in the beginning.

so how can i get some of those shims?

does future sell them?

thanks again!

a cheap throw away chop stick works great just dont leave then in forever b/c they could rot
