Does anyone know if the gato heroi hull is any good? Or am i better off just getting a liddle?
well, one way to look at is the price-probably about the same for each. the difference is one guy has made a few, the other has been doing 'em for forty years…
Years do not mean anything. Sorry! I know guys that are just naturals. gato heroi makes a really good board. Al of his models ride very well.
Liddle is a great board builder for sure. Just because Gato Heroi is young should not discount his ablility as a shaper. Plus he can surf as well.
Alex Knost rides his boards and loves them. So either way you can’t go wrong. Gato’s quality is consistant.
i didn’t say anything about wether he is a good shaper or not. i’ve seen his boards and they are good, but when it comes to building hulls proper, years and years of building, riding and refining them do have a LOT to do with it.if one has enough $ they can buy one of each and decide for themselves.another factor as well is what type of waves does the purchaser intends to ride it in…
There are a bunch of hull shapers now. Some have just started and some have been doing it for some time now but Greg Liddle’s boards are still the standard that all others are measured to. His are the most finely tuned from years of riding them himself and other rider’s feedback. They are not a “retro” board at all.
RK might be able to shape a decent hull but there are other hull shapers that I would go to for a hull if I couldn’t get one from Liddle.
hey mijk… glad you said that. i too am constantly explaining to my pals " these ain’t retro … they’ve been refining them for the last 30+ years ." ( of course then i have to explain that they’ve been designed to surf within certain parameters … )
