To McCoy devotees- has anyone had experience with a McCoy longboard (9 foot plus)? Been wondering how one would go in our local slop- I believe Geoff shapes his longboards as singles, but not sure. A thruster with loaded dome+ trimming from the middle of the board could be good- any feedback? Came back from a 1-2 foot stormy at West Beach in Adelaide this afternoon, was on Nugget- a young fella on a Firewire snpped his board in two- hmmmm........... My 7 month old nugget- still waiting to see any deck compressions- tough as nails glass jobs, dense foam= a board you keep for ever (I certainly plan to).
I have a 9’2’'. Same one he used to have copied for the machine to cut out before he finishes shaping them. It’s different than traditional style Mals. Kind of Nuggety. I would say it’s performance oriented like some of the older Stewarts of Forstalls I ride, but it’s looser than my Lance Carson and traditional longboards. A good middle of the road type Mal. Of course, in overhead waves and pockets it sticks like glue and comes alive. I am thinking of selling mine if your in the States. It’s on my site.
