Hey Deanbo, this is my real job when I am not playing with resin-X and working on speed finishing systems for surf boards. Industrial coatings, I have put down and blasted up more floor epoxy than most. Shot blasters, scarifiers and diamond grinders are the tools of the trade. Those may be hard to find for you. If it is not that bad, try to get a 7’ angle grinder (not a polisher sander). The difference is about 5500 rpms. They make diamond heads for them that we edge floors with. You can tear into epoxy with them no problem and they will take off concrete as well. There are special floor scrapers also. If you can not get a diamond head, get the coarsest sand paper disk you can find. When you get to the floor switch to a concrete disk. I know a lot of guys like the roof paper, I use 4mil plastic and I am able to peal the layers up as they start to get thick. I get three times the use out of it as the roof paper.
I just opened up a fortune cookie from the Chinese place down the road.
It said “Sell your ideas-they are totally acceptable”
Not to veer away from what this thread is about but I have been working on three different formulas all waterborne ultra safe stuff. One is a wipe on, adds no weight at all. The second is a spray on type, looks like a gloss, sandable with in a half hour, this one is more like a lacquer but no Nitrocellouse. The auto OEM"s half to be compliant to this tech within the next couple of years. The third is a like a poly gloss type that is for guys who want a brush applied product, this type also has an optional performance catalyst. All of which are in testing right now and good for both epoxy and resin-X. The wipe on we are letting a limited customer base sample. Guys like Dead shaper let me know I am working in the right direction. He had an old thread that I wanted to respond to about this stuff but could not find it before I had to dash out of the house the other day. None of these are toxic. The only one you need to wear a mask with is the spray type and the smell is not offensive.
but the one I use is sprayed and has a matte/satin or matte finish (depends how much rough you want to provide a “bed” for the water)
its made for plastics so no tear it apart with the use, etc
the Germans still working on consistent water based clears (you know, they provide the paint for the luxury cars…so lots of trial until reach the public)
edit to say that a speed finish is not intended to mimic a gloss coat but to do the opposite (to try to “grab” or hold the water)
