Getting your boards into shops

Hey all, I’m getting ready to take at least a 5-month trip to New Zealand and would like to shape some boards to sell while I’m down there. Problem is, I’ve never worked in the board “industry” so I’m pretty clueless as to how to actually get my boards into a shop’s racks. Should I just roll up with some examples and talk to the owner, and hope that they’re interested in buying a few? Do you usually sell boards to shops at a fixed rate, or do they do consignments? Any advice would be appreciated-thanks!

The shop I go to puts them up on consignment. They take about 20 percent if I take cash. Ten percent if I keep the money in the shop. I don’t make any money. Enough to buy more supplies.Mike
