Glass on fin repair

Hello all,

I am repairing a glass on fin that broke off of the board. Do you think it would be ok If I just used a lot of strings from 4 oz cloth instead of fin rope? or is that and awful idea?

works fine, I would use 6oz though. cut a strip long but only a few inches thick, tape it at the end to something and start pulling. I use scrap 6 oz glass instead of fin rope always.
