glass on fin whoops

So for some reason, this time around I already did a sanding coat, and hanvt glassed my fins on yet. Is it a big no no to glass fins on the sanding coat stage? whoops

never did glass-ons but it doesn’t sound like

such a disaster to me.

just sand trough till u expose the weave,

glass on your fins and put a new sanding coat where it’s needed.

you can always change your mind and install fcs\probox etc’ plugs.

good luck mate

it’s ok.

the good news is, they’ll break off cleaner.

the bad new is, they’ll break off easier.

Hi originalsin, I would have to agree with Keith. Just sand the hot coat until you see glass but don’t over sand and you should be safe. Mahalo,Larry

hey Larry,

I find your response funny… it’s like shooting your self on your foot

if you were a sleazy salesman you were to find an oportunity to sell him your finboxes as a solution.

you’re a good honest man!

soon , i hope, i will order pro-boxes for my boards, sounds like a winning system.

lee

going for the mechanical bond

dont use grit finer than 60

sanding to the weave/sure

but I dont think its necessary.

the clean break off or sand off

for replacement is the hidden

advantage of fins on hot coat.

if you wanna lay up a bottom

tail reinforcement to overcome

internal foam separation

then glass on the reinforcement

layer…

…ambrose…

there are no mistakes

the door to alternatives lay open.

I just glassed one some fins OVER future fin box’s that I had screwed up… so far so good, took it out three days in chest-head high waves and no problems…
