I was in the WRV shop in VA beach and I noticed one of their boards’ fins. They were regular removable fins, fcs i think, but i guess they shaved off the base of it so it looked like a conventional glass on fin and glassed it on. Have any of ya’ll ever did this??
why would you do that? glass on fins are cheaper.
(supposed you don’t want to glass on the PVC fins)
And if you have FCS or any other brand’s engineered fins, you change their flex pattern by glassing the on.
They are not designed for it. But is you really want to, yes you can glass them on.
As you can read above, I have no experience with that.
You shoulda just asked one of the guys at the store.
I have heard of people doing that, usually when they couldn’t lay their hands on a set of glass-ons and the order called for them.
I doubt that was the case at WRV, their facility down on the banks is the largest surfboard factory on the east coast (all hand-
shaped, too) and they have a good supply of fins and everything else. It was probably a custom order or team board that was
ordered that way.
Yes maybe the rider was sponsored by FCS but the board was too thin for the plugs.
