I was wondering if anyone might know where to order glass on twin fins for classic fish shapes. I’m not quite ready to make my own marine ply keels . . .
I apologize if this has been covered before, but I can’t find anything in the archives. Many thanks for any help -
Where are you located? If you’re in SoCal, Mitch’s usually has the real nice Gephardt keel fins for the fish’s at around $65…I’m sure you can call them up and have a pair shipped to you if you’re interested…
OR, you can make your own for about 3 bucks. It’s not too difficult and it’s fun. If you like to foil surfboards, you’ll probably enjoy foiling fins. mike
Thanks for the suggestions. For some reason, I didn’t find glass-ons listed on the Rainbow site, but I’ll look again, and I didn’t even think of fiberglass supply.
As for making my own, that’ll be soon (now sooner than later thanks to inspiration from Bert’s photos), but I’m just not quite ready to do it for this project. Thanks again-
I have a wholesale account with Rainbow Fins and have asked them on more than one occaision about glass on fins, the last time was only 2 or 3 weeks ago when I needed twin keels, and every time they tell me that they don’t make glass ons.
I don’t know why I keep getting that answer because I do occaisonally see reference to their making glass on fins for others.
My advice would be to look up the Bert Burger thread where he explains how to make fins and DIY, its what I did and they turned out pretty darn good.
Hmm, I bought two sets of 9x5 glass on fiberglass keel fins in December 03( I think). I paid 18 dollars a set. I don’t have an account. Maybe they don’t do regular twin fins? One set I trimmed down to a 7x5 and re foiled. They are on a board I really liked and kept. The other went onto a little round nose fish I’m selling. They also made me a beautiful set of 9x5’s for 10.5 inch boxes. Mike
I’ve just got a bunch of glass on keels made by a swaylocks member over in oz and shipped to me here in the UK. Got to say they look like pure sex!! Top notch.
Send me a message and I’ll forward it over to him (I don’t know if he wants his email address on screen).
