I accidentally grinded through the cloth and into a bit of foam, not too much, right next to my fin box. question is how can i fill this up without having bluish green resin in the hole. i dont want to use q cell or pigment or airbrush paint cause they are too white and don't match foam. if i add resin one small layer at a time will it come out clear. thanks
Howz astevens, Adding one layer at a time will still make a dark area,I used to just print up a design on rice paper and put it over the ding. The ones a lot of people liked were a yellow fin tuna or Ahi as we say in Hawaii. You don't say how deep into the fam you sanded and you also might be able to glue a piece of foam into the spot and glassover it. Aloha,Kokua
I’m assuming that the board is clear and it’s a poly blank. Patially fill with some lightweight spackle, and when dry, add a layer of resin with sugar added. Put a patch of cloth over the whole mess. Do all the sanding by hand. I was once told that the measure of a good glasser is how well he can cover-up his mistakes. I’ve found that while it’s helpful to know how to cover-up mistakes, the better strategy is to know how to anticipate them. Predictable results is the key word.
Ive done the same at a leash plug, ooops!!!
whats done is done relam , hot cot and sand it
too bad wax wont cover it there!!!
if the ding is near the fin box like you said, just fill it with some resin, or q-cell then do a colored opaque tail patch so the repair will not show.
