What is the advantage of a glassed on fin as opposed to removable fin box. I would think travel would be one of them.
…and adjusting the position of the fin would be the other… for a fin box

Ok, i have herd that glassed fins go faster, donno if its really that noticible tho. If you break a FCS fin or what ever fin system you have you pretty much just get a new fin, but if you screw the fin box its a real pain to fix. Where as if you bust a glass fin you must have it replaced back in. Detach fin systems are better for travel. i donno, each fin system has their own pros and cons. i like detachable ones better, no hassle of the broken fin tradgey.

With Redx the fin size and the forward-back position can be changed. With the Edge system the fin size and toe can be changed. Is there any system where the size, forward-back position, toe and cant can be changed? It seems to me if a box such as the Redx had an expanded track and placed a locking ball joint in the track they would have a box capable of all three movements plus the size change.
Howzit Patrick, I was talking to Clyde and John of Edge fins about a system that you could change the toe and cant on. They said they’ve been working on just such an idea( adjustable cant)to add to their system. Hopefully they’ll come up with the answer and fin tech. will make another step forward. Aloha, Kokua
