glassed on old style fin with problems

I made my first board and wanted to make it old style. It is 10’3" and has a glass on old style fin that I made from oak (someone told me I shouldnt have made it from oak to start with. Okay here is the new problem. I just put it in the water this morning for the first time. It catches the waves like a dream but when I go right it hear and feel a huge vibration from the fin. I guess the fin. When I go left I do occasionally hear and feel the vibration but it is not as severe. The first day riding and I already have cracks around my fin. Any advice?

It could be something as simple as a bead of resin disrupting the flow of water over the fin. The trailing edge of the fin also may be too blunt. Check the fin for symetry and compare the foil to an existing fin. A little fine tuning should get rid of the “hum”
