Glassing advice

ive laminated both sides and put a coat of filling resin on both sides. there are some air bubbles which will need to be sanded out before any further coats. my question is how many more coats will need to be put on after ive sanded. also what is the mix of styrene ect in the final polish coats.

E- If you are sanding out air that is below the lamination, to the point of exposing foam then you will need to feather the edges of the hole you make and re-glass those areas with cloth and lam resin. Hot coat the patches next. Now you are back where you would normally be with a lamination and hotcoat. Sand with 80 grit to flatten out your laps on the rails, nose and tail. No shiny spots visible over the entire board. Avoid exposing the weave of the cloth. Your choices at this point are: 1. an acrylic finish using a prepackaged product or some type of quality floor finish with high acrylic content then a buff with Scotch pad or similar or 2. a more durable gloss coat of resin that can be sanded or high polish finish. Glossing mix can be bought premixed or make your own from sanding resin with addtional Styrene added to thin it out.(see the archives for various recipes). Tom S.
