Glassing my Teilebrett (Bisect)

Schon!Sehr genau und typisch european vollkommenheit.Ich fehlen Deutchland sehr viel.

marcus, dont worry about the patent , the patent is only infringed if you produce them commercially, its been discussed here before, the design only needs to differ by a small percentage to be a completely different design , yours is way different to the bisect, if you need fcs plugs i can send you some from england. pete

I just fuc*ed up the epoxy job a little…

i hate to work under time pressure…

maybe I take the half finished board to Fuerte and let a shaper do his best

one half looks really good…don’t know what I did wrong on the second…need to sand it open on some spots again i guess…

hi marcus,

your teilebrett looks really good, you took at lot of care in the details. finish it yourself even it may not be perfect, do not let some pro have all the fun. she’ll be right.

If I would be you I would get in contact with the patent holders as they may seek an exchange of information and experiences, good for both sides. you have nothing to loose as mentioned, I can not even imagine their patent being valid in austria. I do not know the patent situation precisely but a friend of mine has a patent on the Teilebrett too, his name is Dieter Herre and he lives in Meersburg/ Bodensee. He would be easy to track down, the company he worked for was “Shark”, they made a three piece sailboard and other stuff, all history I guess…

Oh man, you inspired me! now i want to build my own. but its gonna be a hollow wooden bisected (large name) because there are no blanks available in my country. the only question i have is how are you gonna hold the two parts together? what kind of system are you gonna use? do you have any diagrams? thanks in advance.

P.S. glass it yourself, if you glass as nice as you built that board the final results are gonna be excellent.

I had some privat problems and was under time pressure…my glas job did come out pretty bad…I will have to sand it down a lot and can’t take the board to Fuerte on monday…i fu**ing hate myself for spoiling that part. Never work under pressure…

it’s all held together by a hollowed out screw in the middle…two blocks, on e with a larg hole to put the screw in…

I can sent you photos of the screw if you like…

The original bisect is held together by two clamps.

man…I spam the forum with this and f*** up the epoxy thing…

ok send’em to jackstephen@linuxmail.org or post’em here, i’m sure somebody else is interested too. thanks. jack

Hello Jstephen,

I’ve had that project of building a bisect wooden hollow as well. The approach I’ve been thinking of is different from the tube approach, since in the case of a hollow most of the strength comes from the shell rather than the core of the board.

There was a thread earlier this year where we talked about this with marcus : http://www.swaylocks.com/forum/gforum.cgi?post=149402;search_string=bisect;#149402

I posted some pics on my server…you can see the screw and the cedar block (they are drilled inside so that they don’t weight a lot).

you can see my laminating accident…I need to flex down some of the bubbles and patch it I guess…how do you repair this?

leaving for Fuerte in some hours.

will finish everything till my next trip around xmas I guess…

looking forward to seeing more Teileboards on the Forum.

cheers Marcus

oops, this does not look good. you certainly need help to rectify those glassing problems. after your holiday you will have to supply much better quality fotos to the epoxi experts at swaylocks. do not dispair, I am sure these guys have tricks up their sleeves that will help you out of the misery. do nothing you are not sure off as it could make things more difficult. get ready for a thermal and chemical attack on your problem and keep some sharp blades handy. she’ll be right…

have fun in fuerte

If you liked supertubos, you should try coxos or the reef in ericeira!

But if you really want some reef experience, here’s a secret, you should try going south of Lisbon on the west coast.

But i’m not telling you where! You have to find them your self! (secret spots are after all, secret spots)

coxos is a hell of a wave when it´s on fire. but getting in and out of the water can get a unhealthy experience. I love the outerbreak of Ribeira d´Ihlas as well. Unfortunately it´s so far away. I found some pretty good reefs south of Lisbon when we drove from ericeira to Lagos. It´s worth to check out cheers clemens

Yo,

scouring through the old stuff… did you ever finish the “teilebrett”??

Your shots have dissapeared on the old archive, do you have any pictures?

Cheers…

The archive is unforgiving…

Did not finish it…yet.

thats the current state of affair

I did glass it but in a hurry and messed everything up. Plus I am not happy with the shape.

I will tear down the glass again and put thinner glass on the reshaped board. I already stripped one half.

It is too thick and a little to wide too I guess.

When its ready I will need to sent it somewhere for testriding…

Thanks for the pictures!

OMG that glassing went bad eh…

From the looks of it I would say start from scratch. Removing the glassing will damage the foam and cause a nightmare to shape it back. It looks quite small so chances are you would end up with a tiny board…

I will probably have some time to build more boards over this winter and if I have some foam to spare I might try to make a bisect. My idea would be a good all round travel board like 8 foot egg…
