Hi Chrisp, I made my own that were adjustable in both height and length - with shaping and glassing heads…also made a drip tray…see it here…http://www.thirdshade.com/p/racks-stands.html
To answer your questions I have mine set midway between my belly button and my nipples…occassionally if I’m feeling a lttle stiff I’ll go all the way up to my nipples so I dont have to bend too much when lapping the rails. I have an EVA foam pad on top of the rack about an inch square one either side of the horizontal bar and then I wrap them in masking tape to prevent the resin from hitting the foam pad. On each use I also wrap more masking tape around thats tacky side out to grab the blank so it doesnt shoot off the stand as I pull with the squeegee. The width of my rack tops are approximately 11"
Cheers

get ahold of a set of crutches. Perfect for glassing. Cut them off at your desired height and cement them into your favorite old bucket. If you don't have an old pair in the garage, next time you see some gimp hobbling down the street trip 'em and run off with them.
I m a short guy 5’-4" and I keep my glassing racks at 41" which seems to work for me. They are made out of 2" pvc are 11" wide and slide into the same posts as my shaping stands. They are adjustable in their height so that I can adjust to any given board thickness.
