Yes i am the EPS laminator at global glassing and we are now taking in EPS work ive been working with EPS or 2 years now and i have never had a EPS board get returned that i glass. I do top Quaility work and get them out the door fast. call global glassing or jeremy at 760 586 2103 to make a appointment or to get pricing. thanks

Few questions:

Do you do classic resin color/cut laps/swirls/fabric inlays, ect. with epoxy or are you just doing clear free laps like most other shops?

How does your shop go about glossing and polishing epoxy glass jobs?

-Thanks

I can do resin swirls but they would be pretty pricey due to the amout of resin u would have to use but i actually have a board i did for myself that is a resin swirl

as for the Gloss and polish for EPS we dont do a actual gloss coat becasue it tends to chip off but i have done some where you take spary acylic and do 2 coats on the board and wet sand it to 400 then do another 3 coats of a liquid floor acylic and you can polish that to a nice shine.

Thanks for your reply.

The company I work for keeps getting custom order request for resin color and swirls done in epoxy (like what one sees on poly boards).

The glass shop we use does exellent epoxy and poly free lap clears, but they tend to choke when we ask them to do resin color, whether it’s poly or epoxy.

Here is some pics of the EPS that i did with a acid splash. you cant tell from the picture but it also has red glitter in the hot coat. as well as the acrylic polish that i was talking about this board is about 6 months old and it still has its shine too. let me know what you think. we also have 2 kick ass poly color guys as well.

cool.

I’ve been wondering when guys are going to learn to do this over here.

I’m but an enthusiast, and my last two boards have been custom epoxies. I had really set in my mind the color and all that I wanted, but was convinced to go all white after seeing the little air pockets in the lam in an epoxy board where the blank was painted before lamination.

I did a repair recently and I found some white pigment that looked like it would be a good match, so I put it in the batch.

unfortunately I didn’t get the clear epoxy (West Systems 105A and 207 hardener), and it came out kind of a cream yellow.

It’s a beater board and so I am just gonna leave it, maybe try to paint it after my next trip to the H/W store.

I was wondering what kind of pigment I can look for to put into my epoxy resin lay ups.

you can use any type of pigments in your epoxy as long as they are acetone free. u can also air brush them if u seal them first u can either use a resin/ microbloom mix or any drywall spackle get it like whip cream and use a sponge to scrub it on and then go over it with a squeege afterward then screen it and airbrush away and they will look sick and with the microbloom seal mix it to a thick paste and squeege it on like ur laminating a board then sand the board smooth with some 80 or 100 grit then its ready to airbrush. there are 2 options the next time u want a airbrushed eps board.

The acid splash is really muddy. Less is more!

Careful with the dark colors. They tend to muddy the waters.
