So i kinda have this problem.
I had this board that was glassed up to a sanded hotcoat, and then it was painted by a friend and a spray on clear coat (Krylon Clear Acrylic Matte) was applied to it so it wouldn’t bleed, but i want to know if it would be ok to gloss over this clear coat or if there would be any problems with the gloss sticking. If anyone has ever done this before, any advise would be greatly appriciated
thanks

My experience with glossing over Krylon on the sanded hotcoat have not been good. Gloss resin really doesn’t like the stuff. It reacts and separates. Another thing that the gloss doesn’t like are sovent based markers like Marksalot and Sharpies. Next time seal the art with matte medium (what I use) or the Swaylocks garage builders favorite: Future Floor Wax. Lite sand it with a Scotchbrite pad and then gloss.
Are you using poly or epoxy? Future floor polish is a good acryic gloss for poly.
What was the art work done with?
With poly resin I have used water based acrylic with no problems.
The pic is of a epoxy with with acrylic art and water based polyurethane gloss. This is a test.
Do some tests it will save you hours of pain.
Have fun,
