Can anyone recommend a glue that will allow enough time to attach rails but be easily sanded so as to keep from butchering the soft eps. have tried thin coat of epoxy and microballons but its to tough. foaming pu foams to quick and i was gonna try gorilla glue but i hear thats hard to sand to. foaming pu of some sort would be good cos it so similar to eps sanding wise.
Gorilla glue works nicely. It sands O.K. Remember that it needs moisture to cure. Also it expands, so if you put it on thick, it might create pressure, voids etc.
Don’t ask me how I know this, but if you thin it with zylene, it will disolve both EPS and PU foam. Yikes!!!
I’ve heard that you can use zylene to thin epoxy. Don’t ask how I learned not to do this on the lamination coat. Yikes again!
thanks bro, i dont know what a sheet a dow is worth over there, but its pretty cheap here and makes for a good water tight rail band for us home guys. actually we all see that drewtang pretty much swears by it.
Thanks ES, i was gonna use g glue, what sort of texture is it like when its setup? sorta like foam? sounds like me, i have learnt so many ways not to build a surfboard! haha
